Favoring one child over others is a major sin. It is an obligation to treat every child in a manner that the others do not feel prejudiced.
Parents who favor one child with anything such as love, wealth, attention etc will pay heavily. Ignoring, maltreating or picking on a child solely due to complexion, intelligence, looks etc is a major sin. It also has disastrous mental, emotional & social effects on a child.
