Aghmada, Surah Al-Baqarah, Ayah 267

In this ayah, Allah tells us that when we spend in charity, we must not give something repulsive that we would not take unless we closed our eyes - aghmada. This word is a reference to a practice by the Arabs of closing their eyes when they are bargaining to bring down the price of a faulty item. The lesson is that when we spend in the path of Allah, we must only give the things that we love and would want to use.
