The Branches of Faith (Ramadan 2018 - Part 17): Fear & Hope of Allah - Shaykh Dr. Yasir Qadhi

Of the Branches of Iman, without which you are not a Mu’min, is to have a fear of Allah, and hope in Allah(SWT). As for the fear of Allah(SWT), it is a constant theme that is found in the Quran. Allah mentions in over fifty verses, the concept of having internal fear, and generic fear. All of them are indeed from Allah.

The level of fear will allow us to get to the highest levels of Jannah. In Surah Al-Rahman, Allah mentions two levels of Jannah, and he mentions that the higher level is given to one who has the fear in Allah, whereas the lower level does not have that concept of fear.

There is a beautiful Hadith in Sahih Bukhari that demonstrates what is ‘Khawf’ of Allah(fear). There is also a verse in ‎Surah Al-Mu'minun{23} that mentions, “those who give of what Allah has given them, and their hearts are terrified knowing that they will go back to Allah”
