Revelation was sent to Prophet Muhammad (saw) in a region of the world that had one of the strongest race relationships. The Arabian peninsula was home to very strong tribal, ethnic and regional relationships. In the midst of all this, the Prophet (saw) came to abolish all such ties and declared that the true status was based on a person's piety and Taqwa. A standard that is extremely fair as it removes race, financial status, family and social standing as a measure of true status with Allah and society. In doing so, Islam solved an inherent issue of race that continues to haunt societies even today.
