The purpose of these reminders is for the Muslims to gain a deeper understanding and Love for the Qur'an by leaning the meaning of the Qur'an in a language you understand and not just to read it without understanding what these beautiful words Allah has revealed to mankind mean.
Many Muslims today have left the Qur'an and spend more time listening to nasheeds which are time wasting and of no benefit. The Qur'an is the book of Allah nothing will bring you closer to Allah like this book. We would feel the major difference it would have on our Emaan (Faith) if we understood the Qur'an.
Many Muslims do not understand the Arabic language.
When we recite the Holy Qur'an, Allah is talking to us and telling us some very important things. It is necessary to recite the Qur'an in Arabic as that is the language in which it was revealed. The Holy Qur'an says: "Indeed, We have sent it down as an Arabic Qur'an that you might understand." (12:2)
But it is also important to read the Qur'an in a language which you understand. That way you can know what Allah is telling you and benefit from His message. There are many beautiful stories and examples in the Qur'an, a lot of wisdom in the rules and teachings of the Qur'an. You can only appreciate all that if you read the translation of the Qur'an.
Early translations of the Qur'an included the Persian translation of certain Surahs done by Salman al-Farsi, and those done for Emperor Negus of Abyssinia and Byzantine Emperor Heraclius who received letters by the Prophet (s) containing verses from the Qur'an.
Make a habit of reciting some verses Qur'an with translation each day. Choose a certain time of the day and try and recite at that time every day.
Have your own copy of the Qur'an with translation. That is your most precious possession. You can highlight certain verses, make small notes, put tags etc. That makes your Quran very personal, something which you look into often. Something from which you gain inspiration for your daily life.
For all those who cannot understand the Arabic language the Qur'an is now available in many different languages.
You can even download a free Qur'an in PDF from here in the following languages:
