The Branches of Faith (Ramadan 2018 - Part 6): Islam & Iman - Shaykh Dr. Yasir Qadhi

Islam and Iman are terms that can be synonymous but can also have specific meanings that are complementary. if the terms Iman and Islam occur separate from one another, then they become synonymous. There are clear examples found in the Qur’an and Sunnah of Islam and Iman being separate and distinct.

For example, In Surah Al-Hujurat: The Bedouins say, "We have believed." Say, "You have not [yet] believed; but say [instead], 'We have submitted,' for faith has not yet entered your hearts. And if you obey Allah and His Messenger, He will not deprive you from your deeds of anything. Indeed, Allah is Forgiving and Merciful." {49:14}
