One of the most beautiful and symbolic verses in the Quran is the verse which is called ‘Ayat An-Nur’, which is Verse #35 of Surah A-Nur. Out of the 6000+ Verses of the Quran, this one verse has been commented on more than the other verses in the Quran.
“Allah is the Light of the heavens and the earth. The example of His light is like a niche within which is a lamp, the lamp is within glass, the glass as if it were a pearly [white] star lit from [the oil of] a blessed olive tree, neither of the east nor of the west, whose oil would almost glow even if untouched by fire. Light upon light. Allah guides to His light whom He wills. And Allah presents examples for the people, and Allah is Knowing of all things.” {24:35}
“Allah(SWT) is the lights of the heavens and the earth” This means::
#1: That he is the one who has created light, and light comes from him.
#2: The light of guidance comes from him. The word “light” also refers to Iman and Hidayat because, throughout the Quran, light is used as a metaphor for guidance.
#3: That we understand that Allah himself is ‘Nur’, and we do not think how.
