Prophet Muhammad ﷺ shared the concerns and joys of being a Makkan citizen, but when it came to something that violated his beliefs, his belief took priority. As Muslim-Americans, what place do we have? Should Muslims accept laws which might be in clear disagreement with the Islamic guidelines? For example, can Muslims accept the inheritance law that prevails in western European non-Muslim countries? Is the divorce administered by a non-Muslim judge in a civil court valid even if it is against the will of the husband? How can we balance between being faithful citizens and committed believers?

The Annual MAS-ICNA Convention is one of the largest and most diverse Islamic conventions in North America. The convention take place in Chicago, Illinois every December during the winter holiday season.
