On Thursday, November 17, Dr. Hatem Bazian and his esteemed guests discussed the meaning of solidarity in these times, especially as related to #StandingRock.
Dr. Shari M. Huhndorf: Shari received her Ph.D. in Comparative Literature from New York University, and she is currently Professor of Native American Studies and Comparative Ethnic Studies at UC Berkeley. Her research and teaching focus on the areas of interdisciplinary Native American studies, contemporary literary and visual culture, cultural studies, gender studies, and American studies.
Phenocia Bauerle: A member of the Apsalooka Nation, Phenocia is originally from Montana. After receiving a BA in English Literature from Montana State University, she attended UC Berkeley, entering a PhD program in the Education Department's Language, Literacy, Society and Culture program, studying heritage language revitalization. Phenocia came to Berkeley from Montana State University, where she coordinated the Diversity Awareness Office.
