Biography: Mustapha Sheikh completed his undergraduate studies in Project Management, graduating from University College London in 2000. He changed direction, however, after travelling in the summer of 2000 to Damascus, Syria. There he began a course in Arabic which led on to a degree in Islamic Law, which he completed in 2006. Back in the UK, he completed an MSt in the Study of Religion at the Faculty of Theology, University of Oxford (2007) and presently, aswell as teaching modules in Islamic Studies at the University of Leeds, he continues at Oxford as a doctoral candidate. Mustapha Sheikh's thesis is primarily a study of the reformist thought of Ahmad al-Rûmî al-Aqhisarî, an Ottoman-Hanafi scholar of the 17th century. His language interests include Classical Arabic, Ottoman and Modern Turkish.
