Although mental health treatment has improved significantly over the last decades, many people still choose not to seek treatment or quit prematurely and relapse. While a numberof factors contribute to these disparities, stigma against mental illness is among the most significant. Stigma creates injustices, contributes to declining health outcomes, and results in devastating consequences for the person and the family. We will talk openly about the reality of the mental health issue in the Muslim community and the stigma notion associated with it. Our goal is to increase mental health competence and broaden our horizons on insight and knowledge of these topics.
