The speech by Jaafer Bin Abi Taalib, in the court of Negus (Najjashi) was instrumental in providing the Muslims of Makkah a safe haven in a Christian land. The aspects of social justice in his speech shows Islam’s views on social justice as seen and practiced by Muhammad (saw) and his followers 1500 years ago. The power of truth penetrated the heart of Negus (Najjashi) -- it can still penetrate the hearts and minds of the masses. It needs the honest and brave who are ready to stand up for truth It is important to engage with those who are around us and dialogue with the people of the book in the best way and manners. We are not liable to convert, but we are responsible to deliver the message The eloquence of Jaafar Bin Abi Talib and his ability to deliver the message in an open, honest and attractive way, was key in winning support from Negus. Therefore, we must nurture such talent among our community members and not neglect the power of eloquent speech and presentation.
