Shaykh Dr. Yasir Qadhi covers:
Four (4) themes from the Ramadan verses from Quran. (Surah Baqarah 2:183-187). These are revelation of Quran, legislation of fasting (siyam), importance of Dhikr (remembrance of Allah) and Du’a (supplication - calling to Allah).
The importance of Quran was emphasized greatly here, since the revelation of the holy book appeared before the legislation of fasting in this sequence of verses.
These verses also include an astounding statement from Allah guaranteeing that Ramadan will be made easy for us, to reemphasize the point that it will not be made difficult.
In the Fiqh of Fasting, the shaykh summarized previous lectures briefly:
1) Following community in starting/ending Ramadan, don’t isolate yourself
2) Intimacy issues with spouses
3) What breaks the fast
4) Blood donation, accidental eating, throwing up, swallowing saliva, ear drops, dental work, gargling, brushing teeth, tasting food for family or chewing for baby
5) Who is excused from fasting?
Spiritual advice:
Setup daily routine and avoid over exhaustion in early days of Ramadan (over commitment on early days)
don’t waste time on Facebook, internet browsing,, Twitter, etc.
encouragement to attend the Masjid frequently, for daily 5 and evening taraweeh prayers
Recorded on 10th June 2015
