Q&A: Are Alimas Difficult to Live With? | Mufti Abdur-Rahman ibn Yusuf

Question: I am currently looking for a suitable spouse, the issue my parents face is that majority of prospective spouse would prefer not to marry an Alima due to the cultural misunderstanding that all alima’s are difficult to live with as they throw around Islamic ruling’s in all situation and make life hard for others. I personally do not consider myself an Alima but as I studied the full course and graduated I am perceived as one. I have been told to look for an Alim to marry however this does limit the possible choices which is making it more difficult to find someone.
