The essence of a true leader is that he is in tune with his people, speaks their language and brings out the best in them.

When the Prophet (ṣallallāhu 'alayhi wa sallam) wanted to teach his people he would strike a parable or draw a diagram in the sand to illustrate to the people what he meant, and he brought out the best even from the worst of people.

In a narration reported by 'Abdullāh b. 'Umar (raḍyAllāhu 'anhu) the Prophet (ṣallallāhu 'alayhi wa sallam) said "Every one of you is a shepherd and is responsible for his flock."
