In fact, finding the middle path is a general principle of behavior in Islam. The Qur’an and Sunnah contain specific guidelines steering people away from extremes in particular cognitive, social, and behavioral areas. Furthermore, Islam endorses sociopolitical and socioeconomic systems that represent a balanced, middle ground.
