Modern Challenges | Dr. Yasir Qadhi | #YC2016

This is a crucial time period for us to understand what our responsibility as Muslims living in America is in relation to society at large. Too often Muslims are too focused on building their own community internally but not putting any emphasis on our role as a large part of the nation’s population. Who is voicing the concerns of the Muslim ummah? In the past there were famous Muslims to look up to that were in the public eye, fighting for Islam (Muhammad Ali fighting the draft, Hakeem Olajuwan fasting during games, Malcolm X, etc.). Where are the influential Muslim voices in the media today? The Muslim youth need to understand the importance of being influential people not only within their own community but also on a national stage.
