Islam and Evolution Part 1 | Mufti Zameelur Rahman

Many Muslims suffer from doubts and questions about the idea of biological evolution and are seeking well-grounded answers on what their attitudes towards it should be.

Is it theologically viable, does it hold up to scientific scrutiny and how do they, as Muslims, go about addressing such questions to begin with?

This two-part seminar provides a comprehensive review of the subject, providing a traditionally-grounded framework from which to address such challenges, followed by a breakdown of the theological, philosophical and scientific problems with biological evolution.

Mufti Zameelur Rahman completed his Iftaa studies at the Darul Ifta Mahmudiyyah, Durban, South Africa under the guidance of Mufti Ebrahim Desai, Mufti Husain Kadodia and other scholars. He resides in Birmingham, UK. He completed the Alim and Hifz program from Darul Uloom Birmingham, UK. Before devoting himself to the full-time study of Deen, he graduated from St John’s College, University of Cambridge in pre-clinical studies in Medicine (Medical and Veterinary Sciences Tripos Part I and II), choosing to specialise in Theology for the BA degree.
