The Canadian federal election was characterised by a focus on niqabs, barbaric cultural practises, hijabs, radicalisation, and mosques. As a result, Canadian Muslims have received unprecedented levels of attention in public discourse. This has highlighted the need for greater civic engagement, particularly political engagement, from our community. This discussion with Dr. Tariq Ramadan, moderated by Canadian journalist Tendisai Cromwell, explored the ways in which our community can move beyond the politics of protest and identity and become real partners for building a better Canada.
