Balancing the Intellect and Wealth | Mufti Abdur-Rahman ibn Yusuf

Shaykh Abdur-Rahman (hafizahullah) explains how our iman (testifying to the existence of the One Supreme Being Allah) is something which is developed and cultivated by the intellectual mind. Shaykh mentions two factors which strengthens this conviction: Frequent reflection and contemplation on ones surroundings and secondly, by one taking on the study of the Islamic Sciences. He goes on to mention that if the mind is not worked to acquire such traits, one will become engrossed merely in worldly pursuits. Shaykh Abdur-Rahman finally, recalls some of his experiences during his recent pilgrimage and narrates an incident revealing the reality of shukr (gratitude) and some of the deceptive ploys of shaitan in which he tries to spoil the worship of the seeker.
