8 Or 20 Raka'ahs For Taraweeh? Shaykh Dr Yasir Qadhi

As far as Muslim controversies go, 8 vs. 20 Raka'ahs for Taraweeh has to be one of the most unnecessary.

We all agree that Taraweeh - the additional prayers after Isha during the month of Ramadan - is optional. Taraweeh is a nafl salah, and like all optional acts of worship, you are not sinful if you don't do it. Can we then, as a community, justify creating trouble for each other if some pray more Taraweeh, or less?

The biggest problem with the 8 vs. 20 is that this problem even exists.
