*MISSING PAGES - Lost stories of solidarity between Muslims and Jews*
The Leeds University ISoc and JSoc will be hosting the Exploring Islam Foundation campaign called "Missing pages", which will challenge misconceptions surrounding the relationship between Muslims and Jews by highlighting historical good practice and examples of peaceful co-existence, as inspired by the prophet Muhammed (pbuh). They will also be launching the website which will include the prophetic legacy of coexistence, our shared heritage, the Jewish/Muslim relationship through history, and stories of Muslims saving Jews in WWII.
Exploring Islam Foundation are working with Norman Gershman, an American photographer, who has travelled Europe and documented the holocaust. He will be launching his new book called Besa: Muslims Who Saved Jews in World War II with a photographic presentation. The campaign will be launched during the week of holocaust memorial day.
The Exploring Islam Foundation have been responsible for many campaigns, in the effort to spread the true meaning of islam and its relationship with other religions . Their most notable campaign to date was the "Inspired by Muhammed (pbuh) Campaign" which has been praised and welcomed in the UK and world.
Here is what American President Jimmy Carter had to say about the presentation Norman will give:
"I hope that these photos and their stories become widely known. They offer hope for a future in which Muslims and Jews can overcome their conflicts and focus on their common humanity."
--President Jimmy Carter
