Differences of Opinion and Orthodox Islam | Dr. Shabir Ally

What is the scope for differences of opinion in #Islam? When does it cross the line and deviate from #orthodox Islam? A viewer asks, “I thought in Islam you could have different views, different opinions, different interpretations. Is there such a thing as the ultimate view in Islam which every #Muslim without fail must follow?” Dr. Shabir Ally explains that on many aspects of Islam, there is ample room for interpretation, with scholars (and scholarly bodies) disagreeing and ruling the opposite of each other. He explains that this is acceptable in the Ahlus Sunnah Wal Jama'ah, an ecumenical term that means that rather than excommunicate people, they are included in a broad stream called the jama'ah or congregation worldwide.
