The Branches of Faith (Ramadan 2018 - Part 18): Ten Branches of Iman - Shaykh Dr. Yasir Qadhi

Of the Branches of Iman is to guard the tongue. Our Prophet(S.A.W) said, “Whoever guarantees me what is between his two cheeks, and what is between his two legs, I guarantee him Jannah” If you can control these two organs, Our Prophet(S.A.W) guaranteeing Jannah for you.

One of the main causes for going to Jahannam is the impact of the tongue. The tongue causes so much damage whether it is lying, backbiting, slander, making fun of people, being sarcastic against somebody that is not deserving of that, bad treatment of others etc..

Guarding one’s trust is also one of the Branches of Iman. Allah(S.W.T) is commanding us in the Quran, “If you have been trusted, you better fulfill your trust”
Our Prophet(S.A.W) also said that there are three characteristics of a hypocrite:
When he speaks, he lies
When he promises, he breaks his promise
When he is trusted, he breaks his trust
